HURON, OH 1809-2009
As we celebrate Huron’s past history, we are also making history. We would like our youth to be associated with both, discovering more about the past of their community while participating in activities which at some future date will give them joy to recall.
Working with the schools we will be engaging students at every level in activities such as:
- Kindergarten: Coloring a book of scenes from Huron’s past and then displaying them in businesses around town
- Grades One and Two: What I Like About Huron – Pictures and Poems
- Grade Three: Design a Huron T-Shirt
- Grade Four: Story Writing Contest – Adventures with Lemmy
- Grades Five and Six: Essay and Speech Contest: Huron in the Future
- Grades Seven and Eight: Land Use Debate: Future Uses of the Con-Agra Site
- High School: Debate and/or Trial based upon Huron’s Urban Renewal
Other projects would involve students interviewing our most senior citizens to produce a booklet for the future about how life in Huron was lived many decades ago.

It's a Year Long
Celebration in 2009!

Many thanks to the Huron Historical Society, the homeowners, Mother Nature, and all of the people who volunteered their time in pulling together a beautiful 2009 Red, White & Bloomin' Garden Tour! Several requests have been made for the delicious recipes that were shared the morning of the Tour. Click here if you would like a copy of the Lemon Drizzle Cake or the Walnut Ricotta Cake. Enjoy!
