Recreation and fun Activities
HURON, OH 1809-2009
Huron has always been a fun place to live, work, and play. We would like to tap this spirit and at the same time spur some competition between neighborhoods. Some activities include:
Odd Ball Olympics
Remember those wacky, zany days in high school when classes competed against one another in spirited contests such as the Bat Race, the Egg Toss, the Four Man (Woman) Push Up, The Spoon Pass? These and other such nonsensical competitions were fun, helped relieve tensions, and showed students in different roles from which they were normally perceived.
We envision an Olympic Day at Huron Memorial Stadium in which teams from each community neighborhood are pitted against one another in such similar games. Not only will bragging rights be on the line, but honor and neighborhood pride as well. Who knows, this could eventually become an annual affair and grow in popularity with contests as ancient as the Ohio State-Meechigan Game.
